The deadline for the Karina Eide Young Writers Awards is less than a month away! Remember, students can dictate their poems or short stories or type them and spelling and grammar don’t count for these awards. Even if your child is a reluctant writer, you might be surprised to discover how many wonderful ideas they have but just haven’t been able to get down on paper. It’s ok even to use a writing prompt to get the creative juices flowing, but no AI is permitted. Check out who won last year here.
The focus on this month’s issue are dyslexic MIND strengths in creative writing and the challenges of getting lost in the school system.

I love how you always highlight the creative genius that lives inside dyslexic minds. The MIND strengths framework has helped me reframe dyslexia not as a deficit, but as a different kind of brilliance.
Also, thank you for removing the pressure of spelling and grammar in the Karina Awards—it gives students the space to just express without fear. That alone is a game-changer.
Appreciate all the work you do to uplift our community.
